back from western canada...



Thank you so much for your prayers this past two weeks while I was on tour with the Taiwanese Aboriginal Choir in Western Canada. God really challenged and pushed me on this trip to learn to rely and trust in Him. I was constantly humbled to rely on His anointing. After my last update, I began to translate Cantonese only at nearly every performance. To tell the truth, at the last performance, I was very humbled by an old man who questioned my ability to translate the Bible from Mandarin to Cantonese. I realize that I still have much to learn but God has shown me much of His grace.

As I write this update, I am very saddened because I miss the children a lot. I didn't know what to expect when I left Toronto two weeks ago, but having the opportunity to reunite with these friends from Taiwan was already very exciting. Going on tour with them also gave me the opportunity to see new faces in the choir and hear of how God has been changing their new lives since they became a part of the orphanage and the choir. This year was a very special year for them as many of the choir members will be moving on in their lives (i.e. going out to work, joining the army, internships, etc.). In our time in Vancouver, many people were responsive and many Christians rededicated their lives and many non-believers accepted Christ. God really moved in Vancouver this year.

Their last performance on Sunday night in Vancouver was one of great emotions as I watched the boys of the choir cry for the first time in my life. For those who have never seen them sing, I can only say that they seem to sing from their souls. They have a classic final song, "Those Unseen Hands", which talks about how Jesus and how even though we have never seen Him, He is the one who died for us and wiped away our tears. Every time, many members in the choir will shed tears as they sing this song because through these children's living testimony and the lyrics of the song that we can see the loving power of Jesus. I have watched the choir sing for the past 6 years and have watched nearly 100 performances, but have never seen them cry so much as in this last performance on Sunday. The next morning, I was blessed to hear many of the graduates share about what they have learned in their time at the orphanage and in the choir. I felt blessed to hear first-hand about how God has changed them since they accepted Christ at the orphanage and became a part of the choir.

My heart remains burdened for their ministry because they do not know where God is leading them in the future since many original choir members are graduating. However, I have faith that God will provide "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Eph. 3:20) because I have seen God answer miracles upon miracles in these children's lives and those who come in contact with them.
