let me just say, "i am finally blogging"
so... it's been like a month since my last update. a month to be exact and a lot has happened. our last month at the orphanage was soooo busy that we didn't have time to blog at all. for one week, they took us to different cities and places in taiwan (some were really close to our village) so that we could have a taste of what taiwan actually was like. then another week, we spent helping them host this YWAM (youth with a mission) American couple on the base in Hawaii that had adopted a child from the orphanage 17 years ago. then our last week at the orphanage, we spent our every last moment trying to a) maximize time with the kids and b) finish writing cards for the 95 kids and 20+ workers at the orphanage. so no time to blog...
let me just write about our last 24 hours at the orphanage... so depressing.
Monday morning
- woke up at 5:30 and took out the garbage with two girls (Mary and Vivien)
- Viv called her mom
- then we ate breakfast and sent the kids off to school
- wrote cards like mad in the office
- at 12:30, we went to the high school to pick up the high school kids from school because they get off at noon due to exams
Monday afternoon
- went to "DA SOW"'s (the wife of the oldest son of the founders of the orphange) house to eat lunch... and then stayed there for 4 hours writing cards
Monday evening
- at 6pm, we ate dinner
- at 7pm, we went to the kindergarten kids to practice their songs that we taught them because they were going to perform at night
- at 8pm, Rev. Tam, a pastor from Rhode Island came to visit so then the kids had their huge welcoming and tribal dancing for them... afterwards, they went to eat dinner while all the kids went inside their church and started their farewell program for us
- basically, each kids house sent a representative out to say something to us and then we got our little kindergarten kids to perform
- then they stopped the program so that the choir could practice, so Viv and I just played with kids
- then the pastor came into the church and the choir performed and stuff, then Grandpa Yang (founder of the orphanage spoke), then each house performed something again, then pastor and his wife spoke
- after all of that, it was like 10pm so all the kids said goodnight to Grandpa and Grandma Yang and then to the pastor, his wife and his kids
- then they asked us to share a few words (which Viv and I had already prepared) and then each house took a picture with us and guess who starts to cry? us...

crap, i'm really tired right now so i have to continue more later... good night all. and happy canada day!
