sick sick sick...

so, it's the second weekend of school and guess who's been sick all weekend. 'tis right, it's me. i don't know what more i can say except that being sick and alone is one of the worse feelings out there. steph was sick too... but a different kind of sick.

chills, aches, fever, cough... i had it all... and to be obedient, i followed my mom's 36-hour remedy. it works for me even though the process of digesting all the lemon juice and garlic and such is quite gross and tedious. only that i was eating expired garlic pills and the wrong strand of acidophilus and stopped drinking lemon water after remote recovery Saturday night, which led to a relapse of the chills, aches, fever and cough on Sunday morning.

the worst part is being hungry with nothing really that i can eat b/c 1) the 36 hour remedy is really restricting with what you can eat. think about it, what does not have sugar, white flour, or red meat these days? very few things... aside from veggies and such... 2) b/c i really have no groceries. i already got past the few days by eating only 2 meals in the past 3 days. so tonight (Sunday), i decided that i will find something to eat. i scraped the upper layer of fruit on the bottom yogourt (since the fruit part has sugar) and mixed it with hard-boiled egg (from adrian) and then squished it in my rye bread with spinach. and muah. i wish i took a picture to show you guys. it sounds gross, i know... but surprisingly, it was yummy. :) so if you're sick the next time... eat rye bread, yogourt and hard-boiled eggs. :)

Yunnan, China AND HK
(December 23, 2005 to January 2, 2006)

I think you can try to look at my picture album from my trip to HK and China here:

The trip was absolutely beautiful. I always imagined China to be a crowded place (because the only other places I have been are ShenZhen and Beijing), but this proved me to be wrong. In the province of Yunnan, with a population greater than that of Canada, there was still non-crowded places and lots of room for God's creation to bloom. I was intrigued by the tribal cultures there (in China, there are 56 tribal groups and in Yunnan, there population groups of all 56 groups).

I've met people from my tour from HK, America, Shanghai, and fellow Canadians. I have seen the famous Dr. Ho in Baisha, admired the rarely seen Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, went to the ancient cities of Lijiang and Dali, eaten food off street markets in Kunming and nearly burned off my mouth... and yet, it was just as adventurous as when my parents called me mid-December.

I will miss this time in Yunnan. People say that if you ever go to China, there are two places you have to go... 1) is Beijing because it is the capital of China and 2) Yunnan, because of it's beauty. I've been to both and in that order and it's worth it.

Being in HK was great as well. The time there was too short but I'm thankful for the chance to meet up with friends such as Joanie, Perry, Rickie, Raymond and Thomas. Thanks for your hospitality and time to spend with me! I miss you all!
